Nursing Bras for Large Breasts

Welcome to explore our carefully selected range of nursing bras. It is worth investing in the choice of nursing bras, as pregnancy and breastfeeding are periods when the body and breasts undergo great changes, so it is of paramount importance to choose comfortable and supportive nursing bras that make everyday life easier.

It is also important to us that nursing bras not only look good but must also support and feel pleasant in every situation of the day. Well-fitting, correctly sized nursing bras are an almost essential, but at best invisible, part of life with a baby. Drop-down cups allow for feeding the baby quickly and discreetly, wherever you are. High-quality nursing bras also withstand constant use and washing, maintaining their shape, support, and fit.

Different Nursing Bra Models

There are different models of nursing bras for many different needs and situations. Roughly, they can be divided into two categories: non-wired and underwired.

Non-wired nursing bras are for many a carefree and gentle option for the first weeks of breastfeeding when breasts are sore, tender, and swollen. They offer softer support than underwired bras, and you can use non-wired bras almost without worry also at night. In night nursing, you will especially appreciate the ease of use and the fact that the little one can get to the breast quickly, allowing both of you to continue sleeping as soon as the baby has filled their tummy at the milk bar. We especially recommend Panache's Katherine Crop Top nursing bra and Royce's Mia bralette, both of which also have very good cup sizes up to M-N cups. If you start to crave better support as breastfeeding continues longer, then also check out the selection of underwired nursing bras.

Underwired nursing bras are often recommended to be used only when breast size has stabilized, but underwired nursing bras are completely safe to use even from the first moments of breastfeeding, as long as you ensure that the wire does not press on the breast tissue or milk ducts. Underwired nursing bras offer slightly better support and shape than non-wired ones, and many accustomed to underwired bras will surely appreciate the same feel and fit in nursing bras as well. The absolute favorite of our selection for many years has been Elomi's Molly nursing bra, whose cup size selection reaches up to P-cups.

We probably cannot overemphasize the importance of the correct size in nursing bras as well. If your cup size is lost, you can use our size calculator, which gives you a good indicative suggestion of which size to start fitting your new favorite bras. Or if you want personal help, you can contact us even before ordering, so we can choose a size or two of nursing bras with you for fitting that best meet your wishes and needs. In nursing bras, too, sturdiness comes from a correctly sized, sufficiently snug band, and because the body changes a great deal after pregnancy during the breastfeeding period, most nursing bras also have more adjustability than usual – precisely so that you get good support and fit in this sensitive phase. So invest in fitting! Read more about choosing nursing bras.

How to Choose the Perfect Nursing Bra?

Here are frequently asked questions and answers to help you get started:

When should nursing bras be bought and what size should I buy?

You can buy nursing bras ready even before giving birth, and the best time is a few weeks before the due date. The change in breast size after the milk comes in is very individual, but usually, it is good to leave a little "room for growth," because you don't want to be in bras that are too small when your breasts are at their most sensitive and sorest. Don't worry if you don't make it to bra shopping before the baby arrives – you can order bras from us to try on directly at home, and our customer service will happily advise you on all questions. Also, don't worry if the bras you bought in advance turn out to be too small in the cups after the milk comes in, as they will surely come in handy when milk production has stabilized or at the latest in the final stages of breastfeeding.

Can I use nursing bras already during pregnancy?

Of course you can! And it may be that you might want to switch to slightly more comfortable bras in the final stages of pregnancy. When the belly is still high, regular underwired bras might feel uncomfortable especially when sitting, so non-wired soft bras can be a very excellent choice for the last weeks. But nothing stops you from using underwired bras if they just feel good on. And if your cup size has grown a lot already during pregnancy, it might not be worth investing in regular bras, but rather get nursing bras in a larger size, as they will almost certainly be useful after childbirth as well.

What kind of bras should I buy? Or how many nursing bras do I need?

Are you used to wearing underwired bras in your daily life? Perhaps you appreciate the support and shape they bring during the breastfeeding period as well? You can get by with just one pair of so-called day bras if you are diligent about washing bras, as nursing bras should be washed every day after use so that milk and sweat stains do not have time to set in (because with hormones fluctuating, there is plenty of sweat and milk, believe me!). Two or three nursing bras are already a quite sufficient amount, as then you don't have to wash bras every day for the next day, but the ones that have been used can be left to dry and rest after washing before the next use. A couple or three different nursing bras also allow you to have different bras for different uses or a couple of different colors, dark and light, to fit under different clothes. In addition, we recommend considering something soft and top-like for night bras, from which breastfeeding succeeds easily, and which are non-compressing to wear, as quite many need nursing pads for the night as well. In night bras, nursing pads stay in place, and you avoid waking up in the morning in a milk puddle. Night bras also comfortably support the breasts, which you might not have even noticed you missed in a normal situation, but which feels comfortable on milk-filled breasts.
